School Health Project

As part of the Urban Health Care Project in Amalner city, a special Eye Check-up Camp was organized for students from slum areas. The initiative focused on identifying and addressing vision problems among children studying in urban schools, particularly those in grades 5 to 10. The camp provided comprehensive eye examinations, and students diagnosed with vision issues were given spectacles free of cost. This initiative aimed to ensure that no child’s education is hindered due to undetected vision problems, especially in underserved slum communities where access to healthcare is limited.

In addition to school-going students, the project also extended its services to out-of-school or dropout children living in the same slum areas. These children are often left out of mainstream health and education programs, and their inclusion in the eye health initiative was a crucial step toward ensuring equitable care. By targeting both enrolled and non-enrolled children, the project aimed to reduce avoidable visual impairment and support the overall educational and personal development of marginalized children in urban poor communities.
